The Newspaper I am designing my advertisement for is a tabloid newspaper called WEEKLY NEWS. I noticed that advertisements for TV Channels mainly appear in the Tabloid newspapers such as The Sun and The Daily Star. In the tabloid newspapers they appear in colour rather then in Black and White in Broadsheet Newspapers. Tabloid Newspapers also publish more entertain advertisements.
The newspaper I am designing my advert for is Weekly News. I looked through broadsheet newspapers and realised that there is hardly any TV Channel adverts. I looked through the tabloid newspapers, The Sun and Daily Star and found two adverts. The advert I am going to look at is The Ant and Dec Advert for Push the Button from the Daily Star.
Background
The background is eye catching, and connotates the sound waves which are coming from the button. The button is Ant. The background is a red and a dark red. This background allows all the different components of the advertisement to stand out.
The Hosts
The hosts of the how are Ant and Dec and they are positioned in an amusing way on this advertisement. Dec is pushing Ants head into his suit which connotates that Ant is the button. Although they are wearing plain black suits, they still stand out from the Red background. The reason they stand out is because the positions they are in. Ant and Dec are the first people that you look at on the advertisement, they grab the audiences eye straight away.
The Text
The bold text stands out from the red background because it is a chunky yellow bold text style. "PUSH THE BUTTON. ANT & DEC'S NEW GAME SHOW. STARTS TONIGHT AT 7:45". Although there is little text on this advertisement, you are told what the show is, when it is on, and who it is presented by. The information is condense and straight to the point. The way the yellow text curves connotates the sound coming from the button.
The Logo
The ITV Logo is at the bottom of the text because people recognise the logo, although the logo is only small, people will still notice the logo. ITV1 is a recognisable TV channel and brand, so it does not have to be too large.
Ideology
The ideology behind this advertisement was to grab the audiences eye, and draw the audience in to want to know about the new programme. The website is even given so people can go on to the internet and find out more about this brand new show on ITV1. The ideology behind this advertisement is to communicate the show that this is a game show, this is entertaining and funny.he audience can immediately tell its a game show because the producers have put a lot of thought into the advertisement. You can tell its a game show from the name of the programme "PUSH THE BUTTON" the name of the programme is in big bold yellow letters. The second point that gives a clue that this is a game show is that Dec is pushing Ant's head into his suit. A person pushing a button usually connotates a game show. You can tell immediately that this new programme is going to be entertaining and funny is because t is presented by two very funny recognisable faces-Ant and Dec. What makes the advertisement even funnier is the way Ant and Dec have posed.
Institution
The institution of this advertisement is the channel which broadcasts the show, which is ITV and the newspaper which is the Daily Star. The channel ITV have been very clever because they have published this poster in a paper which is very popular with people. As the Daily Star is a Tabloid paper that gives the latest celeb news and the latest world news people buy the newspaper to be entertained and informed. This advertisement does both in one go, it informs people by tell them what show it is, when its on, and what channel it is on. It entertains people because it is Ant and Dec and they have posed in a funny way.
Audience
The audience of this advertisement is anyone of any age. As the programme "PUSH THE BUTTON" has been put on at 7:45, this is when the family is sat together around the television. looking for something to watch that entertains them. The advertisement is aimed at any age. You can tell his because they have used two men Ant and Dec who everyone of all ages look up to. They have used a recognisable brand Maltesers which anyone of any age eats. The whole advertisement screams to everyone.
Representation
The advertisement is representing people of all ages. The advertisement has used Ant and Dec, two men that are grown men who are childish. Everyone can relate to them. "Push the Button" is obviously representing an audience who want to be entertained so they needed to use two presenters which would create the entertaining atmosphere they were looking for.
