Final Design of Double Page Spread

I designed the double page spread on Microsoft Publisher using the range of tools that were on offer to me. Below is the image of the double page spread.

I left the background plain white, because after looking at TV listings magazine, the background is always white or a pale colour. Pale colours connotate professionalism. The first part of the headline “TV4U” is in the font style Base 05 and is in the size 72. The colour pink represents the females who watch TV4U. The second part of the headline “the channel 4 U” is in a Blue Rectangle box. “The channel 4 U” is in the font style of Arial Narrow and is in the font size 28. I put the second part of the headline in a blue box to represent the male population. The blue rectangle box also has the website address in so people will notice the address and will go to visit the site. The two colours, Pink and blue connotate youth. The font style of Base 05 looks contemporary, and this sort of font style would appeal to a younger audience.

The strapline “This is the channel 4 U. This is TV4U. Here we meet the young stars who are here to tell us about the channel and its launch...” is in the font style of Arial Narrow and is size 9. This is so the audience can tell it is not part of the headline.

The logo has been shrunk to fit in with the headline, because the logo is the icon of the new TV Channel. People can recognised the TV logo straight away. I did not want it taking over the double page spread so I shrunk it down to a size where it could still be noticed.

The interview with Sweet and Sour has been laid into columns. I did this as I wanted the interview to look like a proper interview. After looking at double page spreads that aim for all ages it seems they ask a lot of questions, however, after talking to younger people I learnt that young people do not like to read much, and would rather read about the important pieces of information. So in the interview I try to ask questions that are relevant, and that will help young people understand about the channel. The questions I asked revolved around the launch of the channel. The questions were in bold and wa sin the font style Arial Narrow and was size 9. People could tell which was the questions and what were the answers. The name of the people answering the question was in a light blue to connotate youth. But also to help people know who was answering what question. The actual answers were in a none bold font, and was in the font style of Arial Narrow. When questions were asked I put in images that would relate to the question. I looked at interviews and not many interviews include pictures. So I included as many pictures that represented the shows.

At the top of the right hand page is an image of Sweet and Sour. This is an image that people will recognise. The picture is in Black and White to connotate Rock and Roll. One of the girls is wearing a starry top this is to connotate talent. The stars also represent the young talent that are on the channel. Th epicture has text in the left hand corner reading “Sweet and Sour are back launching TV4U with their new NRM Show!” This is in the font style of Agency FB amd is in the font size of 8, this si so it can still be read but will not take the readers eye off the picture. Underneath the picture is the key date “SATURDAY 16TH JANUARY 2010” I created this on Word Art and used the font style of Arial Black and sized the text at 20. I decided to make the text colour Purple to add variety.

Underneath the key dates is all the other programmes that are on TV4U. Each image is there to be looked at. There is a brief bit of information on what the show is about. This is so I can get people to tune in on this new show.

The double page spread is supposed to pull people in to watch the new TV Channel. Hopefully if this was published in a listings magazine it would.
