Research for TV Listings Magazine

1)What's on TV

This particular Magazine provides 4 million readers with a week of great value TV Gossip, very entertaining TV features which includes the latest soap news, puzzles, competitions and television listings. This particular magazine represents an audience who no- nonsense and who want ti be entertained with the latest soap stories and popular TV news and photos.

What’s on TV does not stop there, they even have a website where people can go to get the latest soap gossip, popular TV news, videos and online listings.

What’s on TV is a good listings magazine to possibly publish my double page spread due to the fact it is bought by 4 million people every week. It seems like a magazine people possibly take time to read, this is good for my new TV Channel because people will discover the new channel and look out for it.

2) TV Easy

This is the UK’s very first compact paid weekly TV Magazine. This magazine is a handy quick-flick guide and has easy to use colour coded tabs for the instant programme details, and a modern design. It makes it very easy for a person who is very busy to have a quick look through and be informed straight away about what to watch during the week.I don’t think this magazine would be suitable for my double page spread, because it looks like a magazine people don’t actually read, they just have a quick glance. If I want my new TV Channel to be noticed I need to people to see the article and read it, and not just have a quick glance.

3) TV Times

TV Times is one of the longest running TV listing magazines around. It has a respectable reputation within the TV industry. TV Times had a modern and bright look with one clear vision of what the readers of today want from their favourite TV magazine. In every issue of TV Times, there is big star interviews, more soap coverage than any other TV weekly listing magazine. It is the most easy to use digital listings. TV Times is in the premium sector as a quality TV weekly magazine that is popular with all the family.

TV Times is another TV listings magazine I would consider publishing my double page spread in because of the sort of reputation it has amongst the family. It seems that the TV Times is read by everyone, and I am trying to let all young people know about this new TV Channel. On the other hand, it seems that TV Times is mainly aimed at families, so it does not necessarily mean young teenagers would read this magazine.

4) TV Satellite Week

This TV listings magazine is the UK’s original and best weekly digital TV guide. It has a range of easy to use and specially designed planning features and makes it the ultimate guide to what is on digital channels such as BBC 3 and BBC4, Satellite, Cable and Freeview. This seems to be the main choice for digital TV users.

I think this is a high contender for my double page spread because it specializes in digital TV. As my new TV channel TV4U is on digital it needs to be in a digital magazine that people read and use to plan what they watch. It seems a lot of people read the magazine so it will be a good one to consider.

5)Soap Life

Soap Life is written by soap lovers, for soap lovers. This is a fortnightly magazine that gives its readers more news, more gossip, more stars and more pictures from their favourite soaps and shows than any other soap magazine. It has a unique mixture of news and gossip from the soap world.
